Andy Pettitte and Mark Teixeira will represent the United States at the World Baseball Classic this March, according to multiple published reports.

CBSSports.com?s Jon Heyman reported the news first. Former Yankee manager Joe Torre will lead Team USA. Torre managed Pettitte from 1996 to 2003 and again in 2007.

Pettitte and Teixeira have never played in the WBC. Teixeira turned down the chance to play in 2009, right after he'd signed a free agent contract with the Yankees.

The two Yankees will be joined by Mets third baseman David Wright. Derek Jeter, who played in the first two World Baseball Classics, will not play for Torre as he is recovering from a broken ankle suffered last October.

The U.S. will play its first game against Mexico on March 8 at Chase Field in Phoenix. The roster will be formally unveiled on Thursday.
